Leadership Team


Matt Ostanik, AIA

Founder and Chairman of the Board

Matt is an architect, an entrepreneur, and an experienced business leader. He previously founded and led a construction software company, Submittal Exchange. In a five year period, the company grew from two employees to more than 100 and more than 100,000 users of the product. Matt sold Submittal Exchange to Textura Corporation in 2011 and remained its president. He then served on the executive team at Textura when the company completed a successful IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2013. Matt sought to return to his entrepreneurial roots and formed Charrette Venture Group in 2014.


Todd L. Reding

President and CEO

Todd has served in many roles in both the private sector and non-profit organizations. While serving as the Vice President for Alumni and Development at Grinnell College, he earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He was named the President and CEO of ASI Signage Innovations in 2008 and in 2011 he was among the first employees of the software startup, FunnelWise. Today he remains a senior advisor to the company, while also serving in his role at Charrette Venture Group. Todd is also an Adjunct Lecturer on Entrepreneurialism at the University of Iowa and chair of the board of trustees of Grinnell Regional Medical Center.


Rena M. Klein

Vice President of Investment Partnerships

Rena M. Klein FAIA is a nationally recognized expert in small firm practice and author of The Architect’s Guide to Small Firm Management (Wiley, 2010). With 20 years of experience as the owner of a small architecture firm, and over 10 years as a consultant and educator, Rena brings a special understanding of design firms managed by entrepreneurial architects. Rena served as executive editor of AIA’s The Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice, 15th edition (Wiley 2013) and is past-chair of the national Advisory Group for the AIAPractice Management Knowledge Community.



Emily Hall

Vice President of Marketing

Emily brings over 16 years of architectural marketing experience to Charrette Venture Group, with a focus on communicating the unique value that design firms have to offer. Prior to joining CVG, Emily served for six years as a senior associate and the director of marketing and new business development at Union Studio Architecture & Community Design in Providence, RI and for nine years at Durkee, Brown, Viveiros & Werenfels Architects also in Providence, RI.  Emily received a Master in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island, a Master of Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design, and a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College with a double major in art history and studio art.

Our team is made up of experts in every field related to running a design business. We work in a virtual office setting, spending most of our time on-site with clients or in front of our laptops.
